Post Divorce Dating Tips for Parents

After spouses go through a divorce and they have children to worry about, dating can introduce a new set of problems.  Often times, divorced parents will wonder how their children will react to their dating and if their children will be upset.  If you are dating post-divorce, consider following some of these tips when dealing with your kids:

§  Know that your kids do not have to meet everyone that you go out on a date with.  Instead of introducing your children to every romantic prospect, only introduce people that you plan to have a long-term relationship with.

§  Know that your kids may not accept the fact that you are dating right away.  It can take time for kids to adapt to new situations.

§  When you introduce someone new to your children, know that they may act out.  This is normal and should be expected.

§  Be sure to talk with your kids about their feelings and concerns.  This will help you address their worries and also provide them with comfort.

If you are going through a divorce, now is the time to contact the Law Offices of Michael R. Young and discuss your situation with a Riverside divorce attorney.
