The Gores File for Divorce

Last week, many internet sites were claiming that Al Gore and Tipper Gore were filing for divorce.  Now, the reports have been confirmed as being true.  The couple has, in fact, filed for divorce.

They announced that after 40 years of marriage, they came to a mutual agreement and decided to separate from one another.  Reports indicate that the former Vice President and his wife broke the news to family and friends by sending an email.

At this time, few details have been released about the split.  The family has asked that the media respect their privacy.  While the couple has four children, the oldest is 27 years old, so child custody is not an issue they will have to contend with.
