Singer and songwriter Avril Lavigne has finalized her divorce with ex-husband Deryck Whibley. A judge in Los Angeles approved the final terms of both parties last Tuesday. This includes a division of their assets in which both retained the rights to their own awards, song catalogs, and guitars. In this case, spousal support was not granted to either party.

Lavigne filed for the divorce in October 2009 when she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason. Her now ex-husband, Deryck Whibley, is a vocalist and guitarist with the band Sum 41. The pair had been married since July 2006. There are no children in this marriage.
