Former Teacher Was in Jail for Failing to Pay Child Support
School board member Daniel Seckinger, a former teacher, was released from jail on a $4000 bond after failing to pay for child support. This came shortly after his re-election to the Gwinnett County School board for the next four years. However, Sloan Roach, a spokeswoman for the school district stated that this arrest is "not related to the school system. It's a family matter".
Seckinger has been a member of the school board for 15 years and ran unopposed in this last election. He has two children who are in the Gwinnett public school system as well as a son and a daughter who are graduates from the area. In addition to being on the school board, Seckinger owns and operates Seckinger Homes Inc., Seckinger Construction and Seckinger and Associates.
