Ground Breaking Child Custody Case in England
A ground-breaking case in England has the people wondering how the courts will rule in a custody battle between a gay man and a lesbian woman. After answering the man's ad in a newspaper for artificial insemination, the woman gave birth to two children from his sperm. She has raised those children with her partner of twenty years.
The father, who was granted a joint residency order of the children, is now in court with the mother, who cannot be named, who is fighting this order. She claims that he is attempting to "marginalize" her civil partner and force his way into the children's lives. As of now, a Brighton judge had already ordered that the children spend as much as one-half of the year with him. He claims that he simply wants to have an active role as a father to his children.
This case is being heard by the highest civil judge in England, Master of the Rolls Lord Neuberger.
