Miley Cyrus' Parents File for Divorce
The parents of teen superstar Miley Cyrus filed for divorce in Tennessee this week. After 17 years of marriage, Billy Ray Cyrus and wife Tish cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their decision. In a joint statement to Us Magazine they say that "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family" and ask that the public give the family some space in addition to their prayers. The couple has three children together: Miley, 17, Braison, 16, and Noah, 10. Billy Ray had also previously adopted Tish's two children, Trace and Brandi, from a previous relationship.
In the paper's filed with the Williamson Country Chancery Court, Billy Ray asks for joint custody of the three youngest children, in addition to obtaining an equitable division of the assets from their marriage. If you are considering or filing for divorce after spending over a decade with your spouse, you should consider obtaining a family law attorney who can help you during this difficult process. In addition to emotional trauma, the process of splitting marital assets, as well as caring for any minor children, is not something that can be accomplished well without legal aid.
