Politicians Dispute Leads to Restraining Order

Politics is often fraught with empty threats tossed between politicians. Two council members in Newport News are taking the matter very seriously, however, as one of them has filed a restraining order against the other.

According to the document filed in a Newport News courthouse earlier this month, a female council member alleged that a 55-year-old male council member threatened her. This was no ordinary threat, however, since the woman felt that the 7-year-old man actually intends to hurt her in the future. While she has listed several witnesses to the supposed threats, none of the witnesses have come forth to support her claim. One of them did state that he noticed a heated argument but did not believe it to be threatening in nature.
