Successful Casino Owner Faces Divorce and Brain Cancer

An ailing man in Detroit now has to deal with his impending divorce on top of his health issues. Don Barden, 67, just recently learned that his wife Bella had filed for divorce. Her reasons include his illness, brain cancer, that she believes is making it difficult for him to make proper business and financial decisions.

Barden is a successful casino owner that had locations in Atlantic City and Las Vegas; there is now just one casino left standing in Las Vegas.   He is well-known for trying to get a casino license in Detroit with then-friend Michael Jackson 13 years ago.

An attorney for Bella says that the only reason she is seeking this divorce is to protect herself from any poor decisions that Barden might make as his disease progresses.

At this time her husband is living in a hotel in downtown Detroit as the pair work through the divorce proceedings.
