Divorce Agreement Still Being Worked Out in Mel Gibson Case
Even though Robyn Moore filed for divorce in 2009, it has taken since them to reach an agreement with estranged ex Mel Gibson.
Their divorce proceedings appear to be drawing to a close next month as Moore's lawyer went before the judge this week to present the final agreement. Gibson's lawyers are due to submit their portion of the paperwork as well in August. Despite the length of their divorce battle, little is known about the particulars of their settlement. It is known that the couple did not claim any pre- or post-nuptial agreement, which could be to blame for the drawn-out settlement process. As such, any profits and/or property purchased during their marriage should be considered communal property, and thus should be split equally between the two parties.
Up for grabs in the divorce settlement were three homes in Malibu that are worth a reported $16 million combined. In addition, Gibson purchased a Fiji island and a ranch in Costa Rica.
