Ownership of Dodgers May Decided by FOX
It seems as though ownership of the Dodgers will not be left up to the McCourts, but rather an agreement with FOX.
A settlement was announced in court this week regarding the fate of the Dodgers, in which a judge ruled that Major League Baseball will need to accept a 17 year agreement between Frank McCourt, Jamie McCourt and FOX. Since the agreement would be of the utmost importance to the McCourts' finances, their divorce settlement has also become contingent on it.
Jamie McCourts's lawyer, Dennis Wasser, has high hopes that the deal could be approved as early as next week. However, the agreement will not just affect the McCourts' divorce settlement, but the entire Dodgers team as well. Without this TV deal, the baseball team's payroll will not be met by the June 30 deadline. On August 4, the McCourts will return to court to learn whether the judge has ruled that the Dodgers be deemed Frank's property alone, or communal property.
