Couple Settles Divorce and Avoids Court

One couple has decided to try and arrange a divorce settlement on their own rather than go to court.

A government official and his wife of 13 years announced their divorce earlier this year. It was the wife's decision to file for the divorce; it came at a terrible time, however, as her husband was running for a new political office. He lost the election and is now faced with losing his wife as well.

The couple has three children together. There is no word yet whether they will seek joint custody. After filing for divorce just two days after filing for separation, it appears as though she is eager to move the process along. Her actions, along with the omission of a reason for the divorce in the filing, have left some to question whether she was to blame for the separation. It is known that the commissioner has limited her access to certain funds until the divorce has been finalized.
