National Adoption Day Prompts 100 Adoptions
Recently, 100 children from one state were adopted in just one day as part of National Adoption Day.
The holiday started 11 years ago to encourage individuals and couples to become adoptive parents. It is generally held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, when courts open their doors to individuals who want to become adoptive parents. Some of these people have waited months, even years, to adopt a child.
While this year 4,000 children are expected to find loving homes, there are still 107,000 children that need to be adopted. There are 500 in Los Angeles alone that need to be adopted.
