Many Arrested during Child Support Sweep

Think you can outsmart the law when it comes to back child support payments? While you may not get caught immediately, police could eventually track you down and make you pay.

A nationwide warrant sweep conducted earlier this month led to the arrest of 29 individuals. One man owed $80,000 in back payments. The 38-year-old man is now being held at in a local jail on a $20,000 bond. Since he failed to make child support payments for a period of four years, he could spend as many as six years behind bars. The enhanced sentence was applied since he was already a convicted criminal for receiving and concealing property worth $1,000.

The man was supposed to pay $260 per week for his child. He now owes a grand total of $80,757.

When your former partner or spouse refuses to make child support payments, you need to take action.  Don't wait to contact the Law Office of Michael Young to get help and advice from an experienced Riverside family law attorney.
