Politician's Ex-Wife Wants Past Due Child Support Payments

Although we are supposed to look to the members of our state and national government as models of good conduct, one state representative is making this difficult for some.

According to the court documents filed by his ex-wife earlier this year, the politician is grossly overdue on his child support obligations. She claims that he owes $100,000 for his three children, as well as $17,000 in interest. The case dates back several years to when he and his ex-wife first divorced. Even though two of his children are now adults, his ex-wife states that he missed several payments years ago that she is entitled to.

The opposing team has argued that the figure is too high and hopes to settle the matter before it goes to trial. Both parties are meeting with a judge in Illinois this week for "pretrial conference." If he is successful, the politician will be able to reduce that figure, even if only by several thousand dollars.
